How many of these travellers see Herculaneum before or after Pompeii? The vast majority don't, so we have created this double-header excursion from Rome that takes in the two most important archaeological sites in Italy, if not the world.
Pompeii is the "destroyed city", Herculaneum the "preserved city", ergo you'll see frescoes and mosaics in Herculaneum that are vastly superior to those that adorn the houses and villas of Pompeii.
Herculaneum is smaller than Pompeii, so it's possible to get a clear picture of its story in a couple of hours.
Travellers are known to return to Pompeii, to further explore the expanse of ruins in search of undiscovered secrets and untold stories.
On Pompeii & Herculaneum: Two Tours, you get two fast bullet trains Rome - Naples - Rome, two guided tours with working archaeologists, and first entrance tickets to each site. You will depart from Rome early, near 7am, so set the alarm clock the night before!
Your guided tour of Herculaneum in the morning is followed by a guided Pompeii tour in the afternoon.

Pompeii & Herculaneum: Two Tours is a full day excursion of archaeological adventure touring and sightseeing. If you are staying in Rome and want to go further than the Vatican and Colosseum, we will carry you forth!

Board your first outbound train yourself at Roma Termini station. Please be inside the station and waiting for your express train to Napoli Centrale station 30 minutes before the departure time printed on your ticket. When you arrive in Naples, pay close attention to the train service number and departure time to Pompeii station printed on your ticket.

Two scheduled suburban train connections and two taxi connections between Naples, Pompeii and Herculaneum. The taxi connections are particularly necessary due to frequently late or cancelled public transportation between Naples - Herculaneum and Naples - Pompeii.
All cancellation requests must be received by e-mail (send to info@eternaltoursrome.com). If you cancel more than thirty (30) days before travel date, you will be entitled to a full refund. If you cancel less than thirty (30) days before travel date, you will not be entitled to any refund.
